Tens of thousands of people all across the country audition for the chance to perform on the Hollywood stage. Approximately 70 performers from Green Country had their opportunity to perform in front of the judges during round two of auditions in OKlahoma City.
Singers presented with a golden ticket will advance to the Hollywood portion of the competition.
The new ensemble of judges talked with FOX23 before they began the round two auditions at Chesapeake Arena.
“I’m so happy to be here to see all of the young talent,” said Grammy winner, Mariah Carey. “They need to do the best they can and try not to be nervous.”
Country music star Keith Urban said that he could understand why the contestants would be nervous given Oklahoma’s plethora of musicians.
“The bar is set pretty high here you have a great heritage of fantastic artists,” said Urban.
Rap artist Nicki Minaj told FOX23 that she was looking for a contestant who was unique and confident. She said that contestants shouldn’t be nervous to perform in front of the panel of judges.
“They shouldn’t be nervous we are rooting for them we want them to be amazing and we want to find the next American Idol,” said Minaj.
