FOX23 is hearing from the family of 12-year-old boy, who was hit by a moving truck.

The accident happened near 11th and Sheridan around 7 on Tuesday night.

Police said a Ryder truck hit Rickey Bridges, injuring him, as he was trying to cross 11th street.

Ricky's grandfather, Ronnie Bridges, told FOX23 Rickey and a few other friends got dropped off at Skateland for kids night but it was the wrong night.

"He asked to use the telephone and they wouldn't allow him to do that. Told him to go to Quiktrip from my understanding," said Bridges.

Bridges said that's when Rickey was hit.

"We're just waiting for a miracle from God, that's what we're doing" said Bridges.

Ronnie Bridges told FOX23 his grandson is the ICU and is fighting for his life.

FOX23 went to Skateland to find out their policy for kids using the phones but it was closed Wednesday. We also called Skateland but only got a recording.

No citation was given to the driver for hitting the boy.

You gotta watch out crossing the street. Hope you recover well enough to skate again someday.

The lights from the QT are blazing, maybe they are part of the problem?
