If you feed your pet dry food, occasional raw bones, and brush its teeth frequently, it should never develop dental problems. But even the most careful pet owner can occasionally discover that your beloved dog or cat has teeth that need cleaning. A trip to the vet makes this a fairly simple process. A professional teeth cleaning consists of brushing, plus scraping built up tartar at the base of the teeth beneath the gum line. In addition, the vet will check for cavities, signs of infection or other oral problems. When it's all done, you can rest easy, knowing that behind your pet's smile is a clean, healthy mouth.
