FOX23 and My41 in Tulsa, Oklahoma have an opportunity for Chief Engineer. This is an exciting time to join these stations and play a vital role in the continued success. As a part of Cox Media group, our Chief Engineer will be instrumental in developing new technologies for future growth.
Position requires total responsibility for the station's technical operations, including studio, on-air, news, remote operations, production, power and video/IT systems as well as installation and maintenance of equipment at the transmitter site. The Chief Engineer will direct the development and administration of departmental operating plans, budgets and capital projects including the growth and development of the engineering team. He will direct and administer guidelines to assure the proper functioning and maintenance of all technical equipment and systems. Additional responsibilities are organizational effectiveness and compliance with all local, state and federal laws. The Chief Engineer will work closely with news, creative services, finance and all other creative and administrative departments within the station and Company. The Chief Engineer will be critical to help determine and direct the course of future technology selection and integration based on research and experiential knowledge.
Experience and Education
Candidates must possess sound leadership abilities, strong collaboration skills, excellent verbal and written communication and a proven record in project-planning and implementation. Education requirements are at least two year’s experience in a broadcast television station with technical supervisory functions, and /or, a two year degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering technology or information technology. Must manage and perform on-call duties and work flexible hours. This could be a great opportunity for an experienced engineer to develop leadership skills to motivate and shape the engineering department. This station was recently acquired by the Cox Media Group Company and is in the initial stages of rebuilding its entire infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to make their mark on a growing organization that is investing heavily in its property. Physical demands are the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in tight spaces behind equipment racks, and climb no higher than 30 ft. An Oklahoma Driver’s License is require.
