LOS ANGELES (AP) — A landmark Los Angeles music venue where Bob Marley, Johnny Cash and Frank Sinatra performed is set to close its doors this fall.

Live Nation announced Wednesday that the Gibson Amphitheatre's lease is ending in September and the venue will close its doors.

Fans who were planning to attend shows there after September are advised to hold on to their tickets as Live Nation makes arrangements for performances at new venues.

It opened as the Universal Amphitheatre in 1972, an outdoor venue at Universal Studios. Comedians, musicians and politicians have appeared at the venue.

Live Nation executive Bret Gallagher says there will be a series of farewell shows.

The closure makes way for a Harry Potter attraction, part of a major theme park and studio expansion by property owner NBCUniversal.
