Southbound US-169 has been reopened after traffic was diverted onto the inside shoulder between 36th St. N. and Pine Ave.
They narrowed the lanes after a truck struck a railroad bridge over the roadway. Officials told FOX23 a dump truck was pulling a backhoe when it clipped the bridge and the trailer broke off, the backhoe then rolled off the trailer, blocking traffic.
The bridge itself is okay, the underneath part has some damage. ODOT said traffic was backed up for four miles and only one southbound lane was open.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and find an alternate route.
The lanes reopened around 6 Wednesday evening.
