The Tulsa Police union says it may have to sue the city if the City of Tulsa does not follow through and pay past due health and welfare plan contributions that were ordered by an arbitration panel in March.
The FOP says on March 3, 2009, the arbitration panel agreed with the FOP position that police should receive the same contribution amount as other city employees.
The FOP says the city has been ignoring this agreement and, at this point, has refused payment. The union estimates the amount owed is now at hundreds of thousands of dollars if not more.
In a letter sent to city leaders, the FOP says, since the City of Tulsa has failed to comply with the decision and pay the contributions owed for this year, the union hopes the city will pay before any legal action has to be taken.
