It was an emotional city council meeting as Mayor Kathy Taylor presented her budget that include big cuts include cutting 96 city positions, 17 of which are currently filled. She also recommended mandatory 4 furlough days for all city departments including fire and police.
Union presidents for the FOP, firefighters union, and AFSCME all say the Mayor did not do enough to prevent the cuts. Union presidents saying their union employees are shouldering most of the budget cut burden.
Mayor Taylor says she has the legal authority to enforce the furloughs, but the unions disagree. Union leaders tell FOX23 that they expect arbitration in order to reach an agreement.
