Every year millions of Americans, including thousands of Oklahomans are victims of identity theft.

One of the most common types of identity theft here in Oklahoma is credit card fraud.  To show you just how easy it is to become a victim, FOX23 news anchor Clay Loney lent FOX23 news solving problems reporter Emily Sinovic his credit card for the afternoon.

With his credit card, Emily was able to go on a shopping spree at four different stores where not one of those store’s employees asked for her ID or checked the credit card.

Emily was able to buy a few new things for the kitchen, a new tv, some living room decorations, and a new dress for herself.  Total, Emily was able to spend about a thousand dollars with Clay’s credit card, and not once did someone ask for ID

Identity theft can lead to much more serious problems.  Just ask Sherie Harris who lost a lot more than her money.
