(Monday, May 11, 2009 9:00 pm by Kaci Christian, FOX23.com, Tulsa OK)—You’re running late. You’re trying to get somewhere fast. You’re nearly there. And that’s when you hear the siren. The last thing you need is another ticket. FOX 23’s Kaci Christian reveals the secrets of about what you should and shouldn’t do when trying to beat the ticket. That’s tonight’s Solving Problems report.

“It all starts here,” reports FOX 23’s Kaci Christian. “With so much to do, and so little time—you may be distracted—grabbing a drink, putting on makeup, or chatting on your cell.”

Then you hear the siren.

“That’s when you realize you’re over the speed limit,” adds FOX 23’s Kaci Christian.

“All right, here we go,” says Tulsa Police Officer Doug Chism.

The choices you make now determine the price you pay later.

“The reason I stopped you is you’re going 53 in a 40,” explains Officer Chism.

“Oh. I didn’t realize that,” says a woman.

If you’re pulled over, police say courtesy counts.

“I’ve had people where I was just gonna stop and warn ’em talk themselves into it by yelling at me or cursin’ me out,” Officer Chism adds.

Today being polite helped this driver beat the ticket.

“We’re gonna cut you some slack today,” Officer Chism tells the driver. “You need to slow down, though.”

“I will,” promises the driver. “I apologize.”
