(TULSA, Okla.) February 25 - In Tulsa, city crews fill tens of thousands of potholes every year.  And still, for you and your car, it can be a real challenge surviving our streets.

While the city debates the best ways to pay for widespread street improvements, this month the FOX23 "Pothole Patrol" has been working with you to find the worst potholes and get them filled.

One spot you won't have to dodge for a while, was brought to our attention by Brandy.  She wrote: "on Yale northbound between 35th and 33rd, there are two huge craters. I have to drive over them every day, please get them fixed!"  Brandy, your commute to work is a little smoother now.

Earlier this month, Linda Lowe showed us a terrible stretch of road near 12th & Utica.  Thanks to Linda, the city is doing more than just filling potholes there.

We first told you earlier this month about a number of bad spots on South Lewis.  Two weeks later, we found eight filled-up potholes.  But honestly, Lewis is a mess, all the way up and down, the city knows it needs to be totally refinished, re-paved, but at least we have an improvement there.

And we got an email from TB, who asked for help with a pothole on Harvard, between 51st and 61st.  That one is also gone.

There are many other potholes you've let us know about that have been filled this month or are on crews' lists to be repaired.

In the meantime, it's a constant battle and we could use your help.  If you see a bad pothole, let us know by going clicking on "Pothole Patrol" on the left side of the home page.

One, they have to clean out the potholes, fill them with hot asphalt, roll it down, and then cover with steel plates that are secured with bolts for 90 days. After the asphalt is cured, remove the steel plates and the road is like new. Two, they have to use a machine that removes the top two inches of asphalt from the road way, then lay hot asphalt over the whole street, roll it down, and open it up after it cures in about 24 hours. Sounds like you people of Tulsa need to fire your city manager and bring in someone who will repair your roads! You don't even want to get me going on potholes. They don't even get off their @'''sssses, they sit on the back of a tailgate - n - drive by with shovels. Look around you. Some of them miss the holes. They don't even tamp them. It's a union arrogance . They refuse to be seen doing any work or something. One would imagine they'd want to accomplish something to kill the time..nah! not these guys....they think they'r outsmartin' everybody by doing as lil' as possible. How are we doing on those corruption cases? I'll bet they never even mention the quality of the work, yet alone getting the money back!

We are going to continue to have road problems in Tulsa. As long as you have the same contractors doing the same "skip a few steps" sub quality repairs. They want us to pay them more money(via property taxes)to fix roads, that they have been paid to repair (poorly) for years. Our roads are all being repaired by merely spreading thin layers (1" -1 1/2") of asphalt over the existing broken roads. Other cities with "real" winter weather use reclaimers. Reclaimers scrape the surface of the road in need of repair, leaving a great bonding surface. They are skipping this step & asking for more $$$$$$. This is why our freshly paved roads break up w/in two years. They simply break up & lift off the old damaged roads, in most cases leaving big potholes. We should be suing for gross neglagence. The road contractors, bribed inspectors & the field engineers for allowing our community to fall into such dangerous commutes.

The 169 North to 51 West interchange is almost good! Just a two foot seam along the eastern edge of 169 as your leaving is all that is crumbling now. That should be an easy weekend fix. The guys that just roofed my house could probably do it in four hours.
