(TULSA, Okla.) November 5 – Students in the Owasso and Union school districts are going back to school this morning, just days after two of their classmates tested positive for a potentially deadly infection.

The students have MRSA, a staph infection that is resistant to medicine.

This ‘superbug’ as its known, can kill and is very difficult to get rid of. According to the CDC, in 2005 more people died from MRSA than from AIDS.

MRSA infections are skin infections. Cuts, ingrown hairs, and pimples all have the potential of turning into MRSA.

School districts across our area now have new plans in place to combat the ‘superbug.’ Stay tuned to FOX23 News for the latest on this dangerous infection.
