On Thursday night, our Idol contestant from Bixby, Matt Breitzke found out he was not in the top 12. But he still has a chance to stay on the show.
That's if the judges pick him to be in the wild card round.
Next week is going to be full of action on Idol. One more group of 12 contestants will perform, and three will advance. And then it's the wild card round.
The judges will pick six contestants who didn't get enough votes to perform, and then the viewers will choose the final three contestants to round out the top 12.
Before his elimination Thursday night Matt got a final say about how he did, and Simon's comments towards him and the other contestants.
“At this stage, we have a lot to learn,” said Breitzke, “all we have to remember is once we're here we've got to enjoy what we're doing and I've been having a blast since we got here. One of your opening lines, Simon, was it's too late for advice. And I don't think there's ever going to be a time in my life where it's going to be too late for advice."
Simon's response: it's too late.
Meanwhile, once again it's one girl and two guys that get the highest amount of votes. 16-year-old Allison Iraheta, Kris Allen from Conway, Arkansas, and musical theater junkie Adam Lambert help round out the first half of the top 12.
They now join Alexis Grace, Danny Gokey, and Michael Sarver.
Former idol winner Jordin sparks says she's a fan of a few of these contestants.
"Last week I did actually get to sit and vote and I voted for Alexis Grace and for Danny, and it's really cool,” said Sparks. “I'm excited to see who else comes out who shows their strengths and who ultimately doesn't."
Sparks goes on to say she likes the new dynamic of the show.
Idol is on three nights next week, Tuesday through Thursday. The show starts at 7:00pm each night.
