American Idol host Ryan Seacrest announced Kris Allen as the winner of Season 8 Wednesday night. Allen, a Conway, Arkansas, native, beat out Adam Lambert for the title. Almost 100 million votes were cast, an American Idol record. Judge Simon Cowell predicted Lambert would take the title, but many surmise that Allen picked up votes from Danny Gokey fans, who was voted off last week.
