Every couple struggles with various issues in their relationship, but what are the signs that the time has come to end the partnership? Alycia Williams, MS & LPC from Midtown Family Therapy shares eight signs of unhealthy relationships which include:

Unrealistic expectations
Lack of trust
Poor / non-existent communication
Arguing without resolution
Unavailable partner due to addiction, mental illness or infidelity

Williams says that although all relationships experience times of struggle, healthy relationships evolve and overcome hardships over time. One knows that a relationship should end when they do not find value in the partnership and have other critical “deal breaking issues,” as previously listed. In order to restore a relationship, both members must take time to go through a healing process and reconcile their differences. Ending a relationship is a difficult decision, and it may be beneficial to seek assistance from a mental health professional to move on with life.
