1. What kind of tooth brush should people use?
First let me say that good oral hygiene is all about physically getting things off of your teeth not about what tools you use. Obviously there are products to help you do a better job
2. So let’s start with which toothbrush to use.
Most dentists will suggest that you use a soft toothbrush. Also, a smaller brush head is preferred bc it allows you to more easily access those hard to reach places such as the back teeth.
As far as all the different handles go. There is not one that is best for everyone, just find the one that’s most comfortable for you. Pick your toothbrush by what fits best in your mouth and allows you to do the best job.
3. What about a power or electric toothbrush are those better?
I highly recommend electric toothbrushes to my patients. Your manual toothbrush can do the same job, but it takes some of the human error out of it and most of the time most people get a much better result with an electric toothbrush.
It also helps in people who don’t have the manual dexterity to properly brush like young or older patients or anyone with certain physical limitations
4. How often should People change their toothbrushes?
It’s kind of like an oil change every three months or when it begins to show wear. Also, if you have been sick it’s a good idea to change them. I don’t know how other dentists might feel about this but I run mine through the dishwasher on the sanitation cyle once a week, but that’s just something I do.Pearl District Dentistry
