Summer time in Oklahoma is sticky and hot. When you get out of the shower in the morning and you turn on your hair dryer you immediately start to sweat. In about three minutes you need another shower. But you don’t want to leave the house with your hair in a bun or a ponytail every day, so what can you do.
Ashley Franke Freelance artist for Kerastase and
Shu Umuera and designer and educator at Michael Brothers Hair offered these tips for styling your hair without the heat.
First she says you need good products, “Depending on the style you are trying to obtain and the length of you hair, Kerastase makes many ideal products to not only give you a great lasting style, but also nourish your hair.”
In the Green Country humidity you want to fight the frizz. Frankes says, “If you have curly hair that tends to frizz use a product like oleo curl creme, not only does this product help to manage frizz but will define your curl while also leaving your feeling hair soft and supple. On the other hand if you have hair on the finer side, try a volume enhancing or collagen boosting product to help your hair from going limp.”
You have to apply your product differently when your hair is wet versus dry.
“Another important thing to remember is because you are applying to damp hair you will need to use more product than usual because the water left in the hair will dilute the product” says Frankes.
She also says you don’t want to forget to protect it from that scorching sun. “After you decide on your do, I like to apply huile céleste to finish. This product is a lightweight spray that is great for protecting your hair from the sun and also gives the hair a beautiful shimmering shine.”
