DIY Diva Holly Embry embraces the guitar picks into everyday fashion. The inspiration came from her husband's hobby. "My husband is a guitar player, so he’s always got picks laying around. I happened to notice how pretty some of them were, and I decided to make myself a pair of earrings. After receiving many compliments, I started selling them online and at craft shows," Embry said.
Embry said you can make anything from earrings, necklaces, charm bracelets, and key chains that the guy in your life would love. "The keychains are great for guitar players who like to make sure they always have a pick handy," she said. "I frequently wear guitar pick earrings because they are lightweight and fun," she said. "They’re great conversation starters. My favorite pair feature picks I made myself from recycled CD's."
Picks can be purchased at pretty much any music shop. "I like to buy novelty picks online when I’m looking for fun images, but a few local shops with great prices on basic guitar picks are Saied Music and Tulsa Band. Jewelry findings can be found at any craft supply store," Embry said.
Embry will have guitar pick jewelry is available at the Indie Emporium September 28 and 29 at Living Arts of Tulsa at 307 East Brady or online at http://www.etsy.com/shop/Hollyrocks
