Make these delectable cocktails to celebrate the Best Picture nominees:
For Django Unchained:
Mint Julep Recipe:
2.5 oz Bourbon
8-10 mint leaves
.5 oz simple syrup
mint sprigs
In a tin cup, muddle the mint leaves lightly into the simple syrup. Let this sit while you crush the ice to allow the mint to really flavor that simple. Coat the sides of the cup with the mint and simple then add crushed ice to fill the cup most of the way. Pour in the Bourbon. Then mound a bit more crushed ice on top and garnish with a couple sprigs of mint.
For the movie "Lincoln" here is a Civil War inspired cocktail.
The Bittered Sling Recipe:
2 oz Cognac
.25 oz simple syrup
2 dashes Angostura bitters
nutmeg
Stir all ingredients together with ice until chilled. Strain into an ice-filled, old fashioned glass. Garnish with a bit of nutmeg on top.
