You know you want to win at this resolution challenge you've made for yourself, but you have trouble figuring out how to do so. Dr. Ivy Norris at the School of Metaphysics says having a clear image in mind of what you want to achieve is the key to success. "The power of our mind is to create that which we give attention to," she said. "So, whatever we hold in our mind most often, is what is created in our life. Our mind is like a garden: the plants that we feed, care and nurture – GROW! So, the image that we hold for ourselves and feed, care and nurture them daily, will grow in our life."
The next step is knowing why you want to pursue that resolution in the first place. "Having a strong purpose for what a person desires is essential in staying motivated, she said. "Identifying purpose is a simple process. All a person needs to do is ask themselves how they ‘personally benefit’ through developing in the ways they desire.
Here's how you achieve mental success to in turn help you succeed in your resolution. "The skill of visualization is tremendously valuable in aiding people toward success," Dr. Norris said. "Visualization is the ability to hold an image in mind until it is achieved in a person’s life. This skill is honed through the practice of concentration. People can use a vision board as a point of concentration." "Once a person identifies what they want to create in their life, they can construct a vision board to use as a point of reference toward achieving their dreams. Then go through magazines and clip pictures that represent what is desired. Get a piece of construction paper or poster board and paste those images on the board and add meaningful words or phrases. Pictures can also be drawn. Look at the vision board at least once a day for a boost of motivation!"
