The Senior Companion Program at LIFE Senior Services is a volunteer based program for those 55 years or older who have some extra time and have the heart to serve. We provide training, support, fun and friends! Also, if volunteers are income eligible we can pay a tax free stipend. The purpose of the Senior Companion Program is to help seniors stay in their home as long as possible. We all know how much it costs families and the state for people to be put in nursing home. Also, people live longer, healthier and more quality lives when they are able to do it on their own terms. Our volunteers go to the homes of these seniors and help them with basic household tasks and/or companionship. We have volunteers that sit on the porch and have coffee and talk about the old days, play dominos and help them keep their house in order. We can also provide respite for caregivers. We are in need of volunteers to help serve homebound seniors. The most need right now is in Creek and Osage county. Also, we need partner organizations to help us identify those in need.
