Showcase your personal style by building your own headboard. Interior Designers Kara and Tim Paslay have created many headboards using unique materials. "Headboards are the focal point of a bedroom and the most important piece of furniture in a bedroom," Paslay "said. No matter what your style, skill, or budget is, you can create a headboard that will be that 'WOW' factor that impresses guests and makes home owners happy." You can freshen up a headboard by using paint, upholstered insets and draping tapestery. If you want to create one from scratch Kara and Tim suggest thinking outside of the box. "We love creating unique headboards with repurposed materials such as repurposed items such as shims, doormats, corrugated tins, parque flooring, shutters, and wallpapersm," Kara Paslay said. With school just weeks away and many young adults headed off to college to live in tiny dorm rooms, being creative is key. You can create a faux headboard to trick the eye into thinking it's an actual headboard. Kara and Tim suggest wallpaper cut into a headboard shape and using plywood and decorative tape to create the look.
