Spend the day with the kiddos making arts and crafts this Independence Day. You can create glittery star wands to be used as a center piece, in a cake or just in the hands of your children so they can feel festive. Below are instructions for making the glitter star wands:

Supplies needed:
-Styrofoam or Papier-mâché Stars
-Dowel rods or skewers
-Craft paint
-Solid colored tape
-Mod Podge
-Metallic Ribbon
-Thick clear tape (such as packaging tape)

1.Paint the stars with craft paint. Skewer them onto an extra dowel rod or skewer to make the process easier.
2.To reduce glitter “shedding”, mix the glitter with the Mod Podge. Use about two parts glitter to one part Mod Podge. Paint the mixture onto the star.
3.While the stars dry, wrap a skewer or dowel rod with the solid colored tape.
4.Cut pieces of metallic ribbon and a piece of your clear, thick tape (such as packaging tape) and use the tape to affix the ribbon to one end of your skewer/dowel rod.
5.Glue the star onto the end of the skewer/dowel rod. Let the glue dry.
