The Camp Loughridge Outdoor Classroom program combines elements of environmental education and outdoor adventure to create a unique and exciting learning atmosphere for students. The goal is to give each student an increased awareness and appreciation of themselves, their peers, and the natural world. Outdoor classroom provides students with an unconventional academic setting that compliments school curriculum through on-site, interactive investigations of nature’s beauties.
Loughridge utilizes Science Process & Inquiry objectives 1-4 of the PASS & Common Core Standards to create engaging, hands-on activities. Facilitators encourage the students to explore and observe the environment while leading lessons that enhance what students are learning in the classrooms.
Loughridge Outdoor Classroom is available for grade school classes from the Tulsa Metropolitan area. Sessions are available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in September, October, November in the fall, and March, April, and May in the spring.
Tulsa area Title 1 schools can participate free of charge.
