The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office and Jenks Police are investigating after a woman was found shot to death early Tuesday morning.
Tuesday night, deputies said they arrested 14-year-old Joshua Mooney, who was booked into the Tulsa County Jail just after 11:00pm Tuesday night. He faces charges of first degree murder.
Deputies say the victim, 47-year old Mary Escue, died from a gunshot wound. She was found by her parents in their home near 111th & Peoria, just after midnight.
"It's in a nice neighborhood, a community that has little crime and this woman wasn't from here," said Maj. Shannon Clark of the Tulsa Co. Sheriff's Office. He says deputies aren't ruling out a home invasion.
The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office says Escue's missing car and several items reported missing by the her parents were found in an undisclosed location in Sapulpa.
"Very surprised and shocked especially being so close, it kind of hits home," said neighbor Christie Bledsoe who runs a child daycare. "It was kind of a shock, it made us more aware to watch the children more closely and keep our doors locked."
Officers say a camera bag in the car led police to the suspects.
The victim was a graduate of Jenks High School.
