Construction crews with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation shut down part of I-244 early Monday morning.

It started at 7:00am Monday from 129th East Avenue and the I-44 junction starting.

The road will be closed until late January for a pavement reconstruction project.

Drivers are being directed to use southbound Highway 169 to eastbound I-44 as a detour.  Local traffic will still be able to use 129th East Ave.

ODOT crews will be closing lanes across the metro area for the same project.  Here is a list of closures:
  • East and westbound I-44 will be narrowed to one lane at the I-244 junction starting at 9 p.m. Saturday until noon Sunday.
  • Eastbound I-244 is narrowed to two lanes near Memorial Drive to Highway 169.
  • The left lane of eastbound I-244 will be closed between Highway 169 and 129th East Ave.
  • The right lane of westbound I-244 closed from near Garnett Road to near Sheridan Road.
