A teenage boy is in a coma after he collides with a truck on his bike.

Troopers say the boy was traveling in the wrong direction along a very dark road and that's when he was hit by the truck.   It happened near 131st and garnett just before midnight.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol say the teenage boy was traveling east in the westbound lane when the truck came at him.  The two collided and the bike caused some major dents to the truck.  Troopers aren't sure why the boy was out so late at night along this road and why he was going the wrong way.

OHP Trooper, Darrick Eads says "for whatever reason the bicyclist was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when he was struck. he was struck dead center."

FOX23 was told the nearest home in that area is at least a half mile away. He was taken to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. Troopers have not released his name.

They are working to identify the boy.  Troopers have released this description.

They believe he is 13 or 14 years old.  His 5 foot 4 and weighs about 100 pounds.  He is wearing jeans, a Jenks t-shirt and flip-flops.  He was riding a BMX road bike that is orange and pink.

If you have any information, call OHP at 627-0440.

Troopers tell FOX23 News, the truck driver was fine and was later allowed to go.

This is the second accident involving kids in just two days. On Monday night, 2 kids were hit by a jeep and had to be hospitalized, near 71st and Sheridan. Police say the teens were riding a small motorcycle that did not have headlights.

Troopers say it's so important for people to travel the correct way on the road and it's also a good idea to wear reflective clothing when out at night.
