Judge speaks about to sentencing teen to attend church

Muskogee County District Court Judge Mike Norman says he thought sentencing a teen, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter, to attend church for 10 years was the best option.

People screaming appeal. You cannot appeal another persons sentence. I'm sure the convict is good with the sentence. Creative sentencing that alleviates more work for the penal system. I'm good with it too.

the "separation" phrase so frequently invoked today was rarely mentioned by any of ourn countries Founders; and even Jefferson's explanation of his phrase is diametrically opposed to the manner in which courts apply it today. "Separation of church and state" currently means almost exactly the opposite of what it originally meant. Statically, we need more influence of the local Church !

How does this not violate "separation of church and state" mandates? The district attorney's office is a government entity, and they have essentially forced this kid to attend church for 10 years! Granted, the kid is a believer, but what if he wasn't? Would a non-believer be forced to go to church? Or does the judge only "save" the christians who go to church, but everyone else must do jail time? If this decision isn't appealed, it is disgraceful.

Sounds like some crackpot with power imposing his personal religion rather than following the law.
