A teenager, who's gotten death threats since he posted a photo on Facebook of a pit-bull he killed, was cheered on Friday night.
18-year-old Caisen Green helped lead the Sequoyah High Indians to a win over the Beggs High School Demons in the first round of regional playoffs.
There were concerns for the teen’s safety before the game. FOX23 could see a police officer standing guard next to the Sequoyah High's locker room minutes before the game.
"I'm just scared of the crowds' reaction," said Carolyn Waterfallen, a big fan of Sequoyah High sports.
But there was nothing but cheers from the home crowd.
"It's a tough situation for him,” said Brent Giddens, a Beggs Basketball Coach. “From what I've heard he's a good kid."
Giddens told FOX23 his biggest concern was keeping his players focused.
"We're not concerned with what he did or anything else we just want to get the game played," he said.
The Sequoyah High School student enraged people from across the world posting a picture on Facebook of a pit bull a lying dead after being hit by an arrow. Green told Cherokee County Undersheriff Jason Chennault, he was defending himself from a vicious dog.
Since then, he's received death threats and law enforcement has received dozens of calls for his arrest.
Cherokee County Nation provided four Marshalls and Beggs provided four police officers for the game.
The District Attorney's office is still looking in to what charges they'll file if any.
