Tuesday marks the one month anniversary of 17-year-old Kayla Ferrante’s death.

She was shot and killed outside her home in e
ast Tulsa one day after her high school graduation.

Ferrante’s family and friends gathered at a memorial near her home. They lit candles and prayed asking anyone with information to come forward.

"I lost my daughter that night and I don't know why," said Roxanne Thornton, Kayla’s mother.

Ferrante was shot with a bullet from a high-powered rifle on May 26th. It went through the license plate of the car she was in and hit her in the back.

"I have no idea why her life was taken and I need those kinds of answers for peace and closure," Thornton said.

Ferrante’s boyfriend, Neikko Perez, wants to keep it from happening to anyone else.

"Please come forward this doesn't need to happen to anybody,” he said. “This shouldn't happen to anybody."

"I need some answers, Thornton told FOX23. “The not knowing is brutal."

The family is asking for donations to go toward a reward.
