A group of neighbors are using their keyboards to fight crime near their homes.
The Riverside Neighborhood Watch group created a Facebook page earlier this week.
The group is asking people to join who live along Riverside between 55th Street and 91st Street South.
The founder of the group asked not be identified but says she wants to give people in an area a way to share about the suspicious activity going on.
"I can't keep my mouth shut about it," said June Tabor.
She is excited to see people demanding change. Tabor has owned her beauty salon, June’s Hair Fashions, at 66th and Peoria for 20 years. She says crime is so out of control burglars don’t care when they strike.
"It was broad daylight around one in the afternoon; the old boy tried to get in the front door. It was locked so he went around the shopping center and tried kicking in the backdoor," Tabor told FOX23.
She called police but knows one voice won't make a difference.
The most recent crime still plaguing their minds is the quadruple shooting in January when twin sisters Rebeika Powell and Kayetie Melchor, friend Misty Nunley and neighbor Julie Jackson were tied up and shot and killed.
"One of my customers lives in Fairmont Terrace. She's petrified. She doesn't even want to leave her home," said Tabor.
It's a price they're all paying when no one talks.
"The more we complain. The more we report it. The more likely it is to put a stop to a lot of this," she said.
There will be a meeting for the Riverside Neighborhood Watch on Tuesday evening at 5:30. It will be held at the Spirit Life Church. Everyone living in the area is invited to attend.
