Woman arrested for allegedly leaving kids in car outside casino

Fort Gibson police arrested a woman they say left three children inside a car outside a casino on Monday.
Police arrested Sharonda Sheppard on child endangerment charges on Monday.
Police say they got a call about three children left inside a car at the Cherokee Casino in Fort Gibson around 4:30 on Monday afternoon. Police went to the casino and say Sheppard told them she’d left the kids in the car about 10 minute to go inside and she was not gambling.
Police say they checked with the casino security staff and found Sheppard had been in the building for about 40 minutes and had been gambling.
Police say it was 33 degrees outside at the time the kids were left outside. Police say the car was cold, despite the woman telling them she’d left it running. Police took Sheppard was booked into the Muskogee County jail on complaints of child endangerment.
