Mayor...how can you sit on your high-horse and tell the single parents out there that "single parenting is bad"?? Some things are out of peoples control and that is the option they are dealt with...your opinion about single parenting is obscene.

dosomethingnew ;-) you say that in your introduction but yet you blabber on with the same old squeak. HOMESCHOOL would mean electronic books. I apologize for picking on you like this and I'm not really trying to offend maybe you could say do something old. I know teachers are scrambling to get themselvs repackaged to fit the nu/clear education potentials. There will probably always be a need to teach basics one on one but once you get the engine started curiousity will doggie rest.

DewosomethinNu. The catastrophe in Sandy Hook was due to bad parenting. Single parenting is wrong. If you don't believe me ask a penguin!!! Can't fix an error in parenting with guards or gun control. His Dear mother I feel for her. She never thought that he would steal her guns much less murder her. In the knee-jerk reaction (that pops US in the chin) consequently may eventually lead to more gun control ;-( Next thingo will be for students to be permanently expelled for gaming the teachers gun [all they need after that would be enough bullets to get er done] (didn't we have an extra one in the hall just the other day?) Anyhow at the end of the day life speaks volumes about responsibility :-) Parental responsibility increases exponentially with home education. I also learn daily with my Phone. It serves as a bulltwinkles buster. Information technology era. Down with ignorance Up with information nation.

I agree in intent with mayor but schools can't afford books right now and nobody wants to pay more taxes, so what is left? Should we have full time security in our schools, sure, but it isn't free and I think the lawmakers are trying to find something that might be realistically affordable and still serve to make schools less vulnerable to psychopaths. I also think people have the impression that teachers would have some tactical drop leg holster hanging on their hip in plane sight. I think the idea is that the weapon would be concealed in a holster with a retention strap and no kids would know the teacher had the thing unless there was an emergency. What if the teacher were also a reserve deputy or marine corp reservist? There are teachers out there with skills other than algebra.

Wooo hoooo :-) We've had a much better run keeping violence out of our schools by keeping guns out of school. If teachers think (I really hope they know) that bringing guns to school only means more guns in school. Any Second grader could do the simple math. If our society wants more protection in schools then hire in a professional with a weapon who is going to be trained well enough for the maintenance of both mechanical and weapon retention in the best interest of safety to all concerned. Teachers students parents and administrators might not find it hard to agree Teachers teach ;-) guards guard ;-))
