Charges have been filed against 17-year old Henry "Hank" Laird. An arrest warrant has been issued for him, he is wanted for the murder of his mother, Linda Laird, at their South Tulsa home.
Tuesday morning, Linda Laird, 56, was found dead at her home near 71st and Yale. Police say Laird's parents came to check on her when she did not answer her phone. Police say the parents told them Laird's 17-year old son was there when they arrived and then left with a friend.
This is Tulsa’s ninth homicide this year.
A murder warrant was issued after homicide investigators and crime scene detectives searched the home and bagged evidence from the Laird residence.
The medical examiner removed Laird’s body around 4:00pm on Tuesday. By 9pm a murder warrant was issued for Hank Laird.
Police were called to the Laird residence just before 10:00am Tuesday in the 7400 block of S. Urbana Avenue.
Police believe Hank Laird has naturally red hair but it may be pink now.
Sources tell FOX23 News what the son told his grandparents didn’t match up to Linda Laird's injuries.
"She was a quiet, very helpful person, very nice,” says a neighbor.
That mother says she’s lived in the same neighborhood as the Lairds for more than two decades. Their children grew up together in Jenks schools but grew apart after elementary school.
"Hank went in another direction and we hadn't talked to her in three or four years,” said the neighbor.
FOX23 News learned Hank Laird was sent to a military-type school. Tulsa County court records show in 2008, Mrs. Laird had a misdemeanor charged dropped after Hank skipped school too many times.
"We don't see him anymore. He got out Jenks school and we don't know where he went," said the neighbor.
Other neighbors told FOX23 News police were often called to the home and the TPD helicopter would be in the air searching for Hank Laird.
"We have been out here on prior domestics,” said Tulsa Police Officer Leland Ashley.
Police say Mrs. Laird had called them for help several times. Her husband died in 2006 and a neighbor says she recently lost her job.
"She was too lonely. She worked all her life. She was a hard worker,” says a neighbor.
Facebook, Twitter or Myspace profiles were not found for Hank Laird.
Police say he left with a friend in an unknown vehicle. They say the son does not drive.
Henry David Laird is a 17 year old white male with reddish to pink hair and blue eyes. He is 5'09" tall and weighs 150 lbs. Henry also goes by the name Hank.
