A South Tulsa mother is accused of leaving her 13-month old in bathtub alone, where the child drowned.

Court records show Makayla Rhotenberry, who also lists "Wheeler" as a last name, is charged with second-degree manslaughter in the drowning of her 13-month-old daughter Avery Rhotenberry on May 22. Records show the girl died on May 24 from the drowning in South Tulsa.

Detectives tell FOX23 News Rhotenberry left the child in the bathtub and went to the kitchen to cook food.

Charges were filed on Tuesday and a warrant was issued. Records show she turned herself in on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and posted a $25,000 bond and was released at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

FOX23 News has requested Avery Rhotenberry's history with DHS. They are required by law to respond to our request within 5 days.

Avys advocate, you are right, you shouldn't pass judgement until you hear the whole story. The article states there is a history with DHS. I'm sure more happened than just a careless mom turning her back while her child was in the tub. I'm interested to see what her prior history reveals.

Don't pass judgment until you hear the full story. She made a mistake, one she will have to live with for the rest of her life. But she is and always has been a good mother, and always wanted the best for her babies. So you people who want to sit up on your high horse and bash her, be very careful and I hope you all remain perfect and your children never come to any harm when you turn away from them in less than 2 minutes. I support you Makayla because I know without a doubt you never imagined this could happen and now your suffering every parents worst nightmare!
