A local doctor stunned law enforcement and his former patients when he got arrested for child sexual exploitation.

Dr. Shelby Coleman, 36, was arrested by the FBI on charges texting sexual pictures and videos of himself to a 16-year-old boy in Missouri.

He was arrested at a hotel in Springfield, Mo., when the father of the teen saw the explicit text messages and notified law enforcement who set up a sting.

His former patients are shocked.

"I put all my trust into him to deliver my baby and he is having sex with 16-year-old boys,” said former patient Heather Bremer. "I felt violated."

Another patient who had Coleman help after delivering their baby were stunned to hear it happen among a doctor at Tulsa Women's Health Care.

"We were both in shock, I mean you don't expect that with a doctor," said patient Stephanie DeVault.

Court records show Coleman is accused going to Missouri to meet a 16-year-old boy to have sex and sent him explicit pictures and videos on his phone.

The age of consent in Missouri is 17 and it is illegal to electronically send child porn images.

"The more I was learning about it that is just disgusting and gross and makes you sick to your stomach," said DeVault.

Coleman told agents he had a problem and what he was doing was illegal. He admitted to having sex with teens, including a 14-year-old Broken Arrow student.

He also admitted to having hundreds of images and videos of boys as young as seven.

"You are 36 years old having sex with a 14-year-old. Who does that?" said Bremer.

These mothers trusted their doctor and believed Coleman was a good obstetrician and gynecologist, and so was his practice.

"I hope people realize that it is not the whole center. It’s just the one doctor," said DeVault.

Court records show Coleman would find alleged victims on Craigslist, gay dating websites and smartphone applications.

No one from the practice returned FOX23 News' calls for a comment. Since the arrest surfaced,  Coleman has been taken down from the website.
