A man Tulsa police say tried rape a Subway employee earlier this month is now charged.
Norman Williams is charged with 2nd degree attempted rape. Police say the victim called them around 11 pm and said Williams came into the Subway at 6161 S. 33rd W. Ave. when there were no other customers and came around the counter. The victim told police he pushed her to an area where no one could see and put her in a ‘bear hug’ from behind and told her to bend over.
The victim told police the suspect groped her in a sexual way and said he ‘wanted to have sex with her.’ She told police she asked him to please not do this and he stopped, kissed her feet and offered to pay her if she would not call the police. The victim said he then left the store.
Police found Williams at the Love Heals Church where he lives in a residential treatment setting. Police say the victim identified him as the suspect and he was taken to the Sex Crimes Unit for questioning. Police say he admitted to what the victim said, but denied groping her, then said if he did he didn’t remember it.
Police say Williams told them he’d been watching pornography earlier and then saw the victim alone in the restaurant and went inside. Williams faces one charge of attempted first degree rape.
