An Owasso man faces seven charges after a allegedly going on a joyride with a golf cart.

Police arrested Dustin Proffitt around 1:30 in the morning on the 4th of July at the Green’s Apartment Complex.

Police say they were called to the complex for a noise complaint. Officers were told there were several people on the golf course driving golf carts and being loud.

In the report officer say they saw several children on the golf course and saw three golf carts being driven on the course near the clubhouse. Police say two carts were driven by young girls and the third cart was being driven by an adult male. Police say the adult told children ‘he didn’t care’ when they told him police were there.

Police say the man told them he was walking by the Golf Course Clubhouse and saw the golf carts and thought it would be fun if he and the children took the carts onto the course for a ‘joyride.’ Police say Proffitt admitted to not working or living at the complex.

Officers also say Proffitt had the odor of alcohol on his breath and slurred his words. Police say Proffitt told them he’d ‘had a few’ when they asked if he had been drinking. The police report shows Proffitt agreed to a breathalyzer and tested .15.

The golf course manager told police the golf carts were locked in the clubhouse and the complex would pursue charges. Police say Proffitt told them two other kids were out driving golf carts on the course. Officers found one golf cart crashed into a bridge and damaged, the other was found against a fence on the edge of property. The kids were not found.

Police advised Proffitt to call someone to take custody of the other children and he was arrested.

Proffitt faces charges of driving under the influence, 2nd degree burglary, child endangerment, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and three counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
