Investigators rushed to a campsite at Bluff Landing recreational area in Wagoner County where they believed 33-year-old Joshua Schneider and his girlfriend, Heather Black, were living.

He is a person of interest in the death of Tiffany Maher. The Northeastern State professor was found dead in her home in May.

Only FOX23 was there as three different law-enforcement agencies, including Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Tahlequah police and District 27 Violent Crime and Drug Task force, collected bags full of evidence from the campsite.

Sources tell FOX23's Dontaye Carter they received a call that Schneider, Black and three girls were staying there.

"I've been watching all the undercover boys in the woods," said Ray Farley, a camper interviewed by investigators.

FOX23 spotted OSBI interviewing the campground managers.

"I don't know what society is doing nowadays," said Farley.

He was hoping to start enjoying his weekend when he saw investigators pull up.

"They didn't say anything to me originally and then I see the black trucks with the tinted windows and you can smell it, you know. They parked in the woods and I figured they are looking for somebody," said Farley.

Investigators found a cell phone partially burned in a fire pit. They're hoping to retrieve information from it.

They also found a mattress, clothing belonging to three girls and a box of food. Investigators say these are all signs that the group had been there or planned to be there for some time.

We also shot this video of District Attorney Brian Kuester as he examined the scene. He told FOX23 the evidence will to taken to a lab and, hopefully, produces another lead.

FOX23 has learned Schneider may have met Maher online. Investigators say they are looking into it.

Women in our area have posted comments on Tahlequah Police Department’s Facebook page saying they've encountered someone they believe to be Schneider on a dating website. One woman said, "I talked to a guy from Plenty of Fish. Same name and same face. Really creepy."

apparently he has alot of ex's. thats all he does is use women for whatever he can get. He uses them as much as he can and then moves on. I bet he was dating more women when we were together!!! His mom is a real winner too, always defending him, she's just as bad as he is!!
