A man suspected in the murder of an NSU-BA professor now faces charges of child neglect and eluding a police officer.
Court documents accuse Joshua Schneider and his girlfriend Heather Black of taking Schneider’s two-year old daughter on a high speed chase with police on July 18 and abandoning the child in the car.
Police said they attempted to stop Schneider’s vehicle around 3 p.m. near 71st and Yale and the driver took off, leading them on a chase reaching 90 miles per hour before police ended the pursuit for safety reasons.
Three hours after the chase ended police said a woman called them and said her co-worker, Heather Black, called and told her they’d abandoned the two-year-old in the car and told her where she was. Police said Black told the co-worker she’d also abandoned her kids at Bluff Landing in Broken Arrow and reported it to 911.
Schneider and Black are both charged with child neglect and eluding an officer.
