A mother, who only spoke with FOX23 about being held at gunpoint inside her home, is still recovering.
It happened near East Xyler Street and North Pittsburg Avenue around 5 a.m. Saturday.
"He points a shotgun right there," said Melissa Orquiola, as she pointed to the window on the driver's side. "Right there to my head."
She was still shaken and scared as she described having the shotgun put in her face.
"He's like, ‘Get out or I'm going to blow your brains out,” Orquiola told FOX23's Dontaye Carter.
She said she opened the door and the gunman she describes as an older teen forced her back into her home with her four boys sleeping.
"I'm thinking just take the car. Take the money. I didn't think he was going to say walk me through your house. That was the scariest part because it's horrible. Your kids are sleeping in your house. This guy has a shotgun, your hoping they don't even wake up to that," she said.
The single mother said when the thief couldn't find anything he told her to give him her iPhone. She fought to keep it, telling the thief she'd get him money out of an ATM. Orquiola said she came to the Kum and Go on Apache and Harvard where she knew there was a security guard on duty.
"I'm walking in and I'm doing this (pointing behind her to draw attention to the thief) because he's behind me. I'm trying to do this to make signs and they still didn't pay attention. My life is in danger,” Orquiola said.
She said the teen left the shotgun in the car but two older men followed behind in another car.
"He says, “If you don't do it, I'm going to hurt your kids,” she said. “I told him I would give him $40 because that's all I had in my account."
She gave him the money and ran back to alert the security guard.
“Finally, I tell the security guard he has a shotgun in my car. He's trying to hold me up and they're just looking at me like it's something out of the movie and I'm like seriously, can ya'll just hurry up? Orquiola said.
FOX23 has learned police are looking for the three thieves and an early 90s brownish Buick in connection with the incident.
