Grandmother, roommate arrested for toddler's 'near death'

Jenks police describe an 18-month-old's condition as "near death" after he suspected of ingesting prescription pills. He was found in the same room as a dead man.

These defendant's trial should be severed. The young woman committed neglect however the Grandmother should be charged with attempted murder. If all this information is accurate and we are getting all the details, the Grandmother knew that ingestion of one of the pills laying around could possibly kill the child. She did nothing to remove the danger from the child. She knew the child had ingested one or more pills and did not seek medical attention nor did she inform the younger woman so she could seek medical attention. By hiding this, she actively sought the death of the child and should be held to that standard at trial.
