Authorities have arrested four teenage boys in connection with the shooting of a convenience store clerk in Okmulgee.

They're identified as 17-year-olds Jeffery Edwards, 17-year-old Johnnie Ellis and 17-year-old Jerry Thompson. A 14-year-old was also arrested but his name was not released.

Okmulgee police say the teens robbed a Kum & Go located on 4th Street and Kern Avenue. Police Chief Joe Prentice says the teenagers entered the store around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday morning.

“All were masked with bandannas over their face, hoods over their heads and some of them had ball caps,” said Chief Prentice.

Prentice told FOX23 that two of the four males were armed with handguns when they entered the store and one of them went behind the counter and attacked and shot the clerk several times.

The teens, according to police, then stole beer and cigarettes. All of the gunshot wounds were below the waist, and the clerk, 21-year-old Jacob Rogers, is recovering.

Prentice says that such a crime is very rare. They have only one open homicide case in the town, from 2008.

“Robberies are fairly infrequent in our community and shootings are also fairly infrequent,” said Prentice.

Police say they're waiting on Kum&Go corporate to release surveillance video. The teens face robbery and shooting with intent to kill charges.
