Several people are being questioned in connection with the murder of a Tulsa man in his driveway on Wednesday morning.
Anthony Campbell, 32, was reportedly putting the trash away when he was killed in the 3300 block of N. Garrison Avenue.
Arrest records show the people who are being questioned are being held on separate charges including trafficking cocaine and illegal possession of three guns.
Homicide detectives call them known gang members.
Federal Court records show Campbell testified against his gang and sent some of the members to federal prison.
FOX23 News was there when three people were taken into custody. They are not being identified because they have not been charged in the murder of Anthony Campbell.
However, investigators believe they may know something about it.
"We are going to get in the middle of their business and figure out what if anything they know about this murder,” said Tulsa Police Homicide Sergeant Dave Walker.
This is the 22nd homicide this year. Last year there were 11 at this time of year.
"I heard the gunshots and I told my children to get down and ran and locked the back door,” said Campbell’s girlfriend.
She did not want to be identified but says she saw a small tan SUV. She wants the killer found soon.
“To walk up on somebody and gun them down it's sickening,” said girlfriend.
She says Campbell didn’t have any enemies, but detectives paint a very different picture.
"He brings a lot to the table, there is not a lack of people who would want this man dead,” said Walker.
Police haven’t said what could have been the motive in the case but FOX23 News found federal court records that list Campbell as a federal witness in a conspiracy case involving bank and pharmacy robberies, including one of Tulsa’s largest bank heists.
Since January, eight of the men in the gang, who are in the same gang as Campbell, have been sentenced to federal prison for more than a decade or are awaiting sentencing.
Brothers, Vernon James Hill, Deandre Antonio Hopkins and Dejaun Legmar Hill went to trial and were convicted. Christopher Darnell Lewis, Marquis Deron Devers, Dontayne Dejay Tiger,James Miller, and Kenneth Lee Hopkins pleaded guilty.
"He has gang affiliations and the people we are talking to have gang affiliations,” said Walker.
Police say they have more people to talk to about this murder.
"I hope they catch whoever did this. It's childish to me we have enough violence going on around here. These young kids killing and this is senseless,” said the girlfriend.
Oklahoma state prison records show Campbell has served in prison three times since 1997 for drugs and guns and was released in 2005.
