There was a big shift for the Tulsa Police Department Friday night as they continue to investigate Monday’s quadruple homicide that happened at Fairmont Terrace apartment complex near 61st and Peoria. The department says because of leaks getting out concerning the status of the investigation, they will not be giving any more interviews about this case until there is an arrest.
FOX23’s Adam Paluka talked with the father of two of the victim’s, Rebeikah Powell and Kayetie Melchor. Larry Powell believes in his heart that there will soon be a homicide suspect in handcuffs.
“It’s just been like, like a nightmare. It’s just not real,” Powell said.
Over the course of the week, police had questioned dozens of people, and on Tuesday, TPD said they were looking at a "Person of Interest.”
But at the end of the week there were no arrests, no solid suspects that the department has alluded to, and no closure for the families of the victims.
Larry knows many in Fairmont Terrace have helped the police, by refusing to stay silent. He thinks that is what will close this case.
“I don’t think we could have gotten as far as we’ve gotten, and as close as we’ve gotten to solving this, without these people. They have gone all out because they don’t want to live in this either,” he said.
That is what may be what’s helping police behind closed doors.
“We’re real close to getting answers; there is going to be closure to this,” Powell said.
