A high school senior was held at gunpoint at a stop light and then carjacked and pistol whipped.

The teen was able to escape the robbers, but it took quick thinking and fast moves.

On Monday night around 11:30 pm, the Turner couple says there were awakened with someone pounding at their back door.

“We thought someone was kicking in the door,” said Barbara Turner.

When her husband John, went to the door to see who was on his porch, he thought it may be rouse so he grabbed his gun. When he came back the girl had climbed through his doggy door and was in his living room.

“I told her to exit the doggy door and she did,” said John Turner.

His wife then saw the teen was a in trouble.

“When you saw the little girl, she was so terrified. You change from being frightened to being mommy and have to take care of her,” said Barbara Turner.

The teen told the Turners and police she escaped the couple who pistol whipped and carjacked her near 4th and Utica.

“He hit her with a gun, split her head open,” said Barbara Turner.

Then when the male thief demanded he drive the car, she parked it in a neighboring driveway, escaped with the keys in hand and rolled under the gate to a neighborhood.

The Turners say she had a friend who lived in the same neighborhood. When she didn’t answer she climbed over the gate into Turner’s backyard.

“Smart and brave and brave and gutsy,” said Barbara Turner.

Police say the woman bandit brought her Chihuahua to the robbery and left the dog in the teen’s car. Police tell FOX23 News the dog is being taken care of by one of the responding officers.
