A Muskogee County man convicted of first-degree rape faces new charges for failing to register as a sex offender.
Authorities arrested Ivan Lloyd Barger, 44, on Thursday in Warner. Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Roy Banks said they arrested Barger after they learned he was not living at the address he gave when he originally registered.
Barger was convicted of first-degree rape Jan. 20, 2012, and given a 20-year suspended sentence and ordered to register as a sex offender.
Barger was arrested at a Warner apartment he shared with a girlfriend and her children, the children were taking to DHS and have been placed with a relative. Banks says the apartment Barger was staying in was within 50 feet of a park and 600 feet of a school.
Barger is being held at the Muskogee County/City Detention Center.
