FOX23 has received copies of letters sent from a Michigan man to the mother of one of his alleged victims in Oklahoma.
Christopher Adams, 27, was arrested in Wagoner County last month. He is accused of sex crimes involving a 13-year-old girl.
Investigators say the letters shed more light on the relationship.
"I warned him not to have contact with these folks," said District 27 District Attorney Investigator Michael Moore.
However, he says it didn't stop Adams from trying to send the letters from behind bars.
"Nothing surprises me with this guy," said Moore. "He may still be writing letters as far as I know."
The letters reveal Adams asked the 13-year-old's adoptive mother if she was still wearing the engagement ring. He also talked about going on vacation with the woman and her daughter and sleeping in the same bed together.
"It was like a three-way relationship between the adoptive mom to the victim, the victim to the suspect," said Moore. "She's the one that gave this predator access to this child. To me that's very frustrating. She's an adult. She's supposed to be there to protect the child."
The letter also shows Adams felt abandoned, saying, "Now I don't have my fiancée or mother in law and I have to spend the rest of my life in here."
"The tightness in the relationship between the three really surprises me," said Moore.
Investigators expect formal charges against the adoptive mother Friday.
The girl's mother faces child abuse charges. Adams is now accused of intimidating of a state witness in addition to 5 counts of rape.
