TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa police say more packages are being stolen off front porches.

An east Tulsa couple told FOX23 they’ve been hit twice in six months, including this week.

Kimberly Altier gave FOX23 some home surveillance video.

“Mad and a little bit scared because the guy was kind of bigger,” she said.

She told FOX23 the cameras record only when they detect motion.

She said a red car set off the camera about a minute later.

The video showed someone walk up to her door and take her package filled with hundreds of dollars worth of clothes.

“It’s pretty quiet nice little neighborhood,” said Altier.

When this happened, she got scared because she sometimes works from home.

“So if I would have opened my door and saw him standing there it probably would have scared me to death,” she said.

Police said it happened in the middle of the day Wednesday.

They said you have criminals who decide they’ll target basically any area and it doesn’t have a particular location.

Officer Leland Ashley told FOX23 package thefts happen throughout the year.

“I’ll tell you these individuals also are very good at what they do. They don’t draw attention to themselves,” said Ashley.

Altier told FOX23 her husband installed the camera a few months ago, hoping to catch someone in the act.

“Maybe if we can get the message across to criminals that you know, 'smile you’re going to be on candid camera.' maybe they’ll quit,” she said.

Altier filed a police report and that’s what Ashley is encouraging people that have missing packages to do so they can have a more accurate number on how many package thefts are occurring in Tulsa.
