A Bixby man in jail claims he's a serial killer who's murdered more than 20 people.
FOX23's Ian Silver spoke with a woman who said she was able to escape from him.
Chance Zachary Clagett, 28, told the woman, who asked to remain anonymous, that he has killed 21 people and he was about to make her his 22nd victim.
Police are now actively looking into his claims, but this woman believes Clagett's story.
According to an arrest report, Clagett, who is in the process of trying to legally change his name to Zaccaria Zamora, was drunk, lying in the victim's bed.
"He said, 'Zach's asleep. I'm who this other person is.' And then his voice changed," she said.
She said he looked "demonic" and demanded she call him "Akazak," which he said meant the devil.
But when she didn't pronounce it correctly he "grabbed my hair, yanked me to the floor, held me down on the floor, and demanded that I laid still. If I didn't lie still he would kill me."
As she desperately prayed for a way out, she says her opportunity came.
"He stumbled. At that point I ran out the back door, over to the neighbor's house, and called 911," she said.
And it wasn't the first time. She said he beat her in March. She got a protective order, but "I made a big mistake, and I dropped the protective order."
But she did start doing some research.
"After the first incident, I started getting on the Internet and reading all these stories. And I confronted him about these stories, and he had admitted to some things," she said.
Clagett served five years in an Alaska prison for trying to kill an undercover drug informant.
Police in Fairbanks suspected he was involved in several drive-by shootings.
"In a previous conversation he had asked me, 'How does it feel to be hanging out and talking to a serial killer?'" she said.
"If it wasn't me, it would have been someone else. It would have been another woman."
She has a message for other women involved with abusive men.
"Trust your gut, listen to your family, and listen to your friends," she said.
Bixby investigators are in touch with police in Alaska, checking on the validity of his claims.
